Welcome! My name is Brian Wong. Since August 2009, I have been working on two community service projects. The first one is my Hum-and-Play project. Every Sunday, I go to a senior residence for one and a half hours. I play their favorite songs on the piano while they eat their meals. After that, I provide a sing-along session.
My partner community service project involves raising money for the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Using my piano project as a springboard, I recruit sponsors to support my commitment to serve the elderly. All proceeds collected are donated to the Food Bank to help the people in need.
I do what I can, the best way I know how.
Entertaining the seniors is a direct service. Fundraising for the Food Bank is an indirect service. I also advocate serving our community to my friends and other teen leaders. The video below will give you a brief overview of my three levels of community service.
